The Era of Neglect and denial was when the government thought children with special needs didn’t need to be educated. It was believed that children with special needs had medical conditions instead of learning difficulties
With the decline of religious orders in Ireland, the situation regarding education and care of children with special needs changed. Education and many schools and institutions were taken over by the state.
These schools we recognized by the state and believed these children should be educated but not with “normal children”
this Era began when the government introduced policies on education for children with special needs again
