In the novel Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese the protagonist Saul Indian Horse faces many battles throughout the duration of his life. In the beginning he is removed from his family and culture and put into residential school, one of Canada’s darkest corners. While going to residential school Saul faces numerous unfortunate encounters, these incorporated assaults, manhandling, dehumanization, and more awful things no individual should ever be put through. Despite the fact that the things that he encounters are horrible, he additionally discovered hockey. Hockey is Saul’s outlet, his thing he truly associates with in his life. While he’s on the ice nothing else matters, not his skin shading, not his dread of being distant from everyone else with no family, nothing appeared to issue aside from the steps underneath his feet conveying him over the ice.
