PASSPORT PROGRAM

IMMERSE YOUR STUDENTS IN LIVING HISTORY

Greetings!

Cain’s Crossing Renaissance Faire brings History Teachers and Homeschool parents an incredible opportunity to combine learning and merriment.  We invite you and your students to travel on a field trip back in time to a shady glen in Merry Olde England called Cain’s Crossing.

A field trip to Cain’s Crossing Renaissance Faire can be used in many ways:

  • as an introduction to a unit on the Renaissance;
  • as a closure activity after a unit on the Renaissance;
  • as a springboard for a discussion period about cultural diversity;
  • as a topic for an English essay;
  • to earn extra credit.

Our Student Passport Program

Since a visit to our Faire is the perfect way to reinforce California Department of Education curriculum standards for 7th grade history/social studies, we are offering a Student Passport program for middle-school students who are studying the Renaissance.
Each middle-school student (grades 6 – 8) studying European history will receive free admission to the Faire.  Upon entry the student will receive a Student Passport, which will contain 10 questions or activities of historical significance, such as:

  • How do you become a knight?
  • Learn how to make chain mail.
  • Get your first fencing lesson.

Students will findspecial signs at various locations throughout the Faire, where the answers to the 10 questions/activities can be found.  After each activity the student’s passport will be stamped.  Teachers can offer incentives for completed passports.

Note:  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  No more than 4 free children’s admissions per paid adult.

Field Trip not possible?

If it is not feasible for your school to make a field trip to the Faire (or your students are homeschooled) they can still participate in the passport program with their families.  In this case, teachers can offer an incentive (such as extra credit) for students to bring their completed passports to school.
